So what do you need to know about photography for your luxury wedding?

You're going to spend a lot of money on the décor, lighting, and coordination of the ceremony and reception in order to make everything flow smoothly and look exquisite, so the person with the responsibility of documenting those elements and preserving them for you should not be a place to skimp! Your luxury wedding photographer will need the skill set and experience level required to accurately portray a low-light room with pin-spotted details and moving party lights, all whilst avoiding unsightly shadows and maintaining a beautifully lit subject. Sound tricky? It absolutely is. And not all photographers have this skill set. Shaun obtained a college degree in photography and has personally shot over 250 weddings, most of them featuring indoor and/or low light ceremonies and/or receptions, so basically, we've got this.

If your reception is romantic and dark, your expensive wedding photographs should capture that vibe!
A lot of photographers will "bounce a flash" in order to light the entire room. What this means is that a light is popped up towards the ceiling and diffused throughout the entire room. This is helpful in some situations, but for maintaining the integrity of your luxury wedding reception, bouncing a flash will not accomplish that even, accurate tone of light. Instead, it will create shadows and make the room look much brighter than it is. Shooting with a natural approach and exposing or lighting the details in an intentional way will create an accurate and magical set of reception photos from your luxury wedding.

And if you're having an outdoor or natural light event, you can correctly assume that we expertly photograph that as well.
A lot of photographers specialize as "outdoor" and/or "natural light" photographers. This is because natural light, at certain times of the day, is amazingly beautiful, and it truly does offer the optimal lighting situation for photographs. Also, natural light is how one begins to learn the craft of photography, so yes, if you're having an outdoor luxury wedding, we can expertly photograph that as well.

We have techniques to portray movement in still frames and catch those amazing moments on the dance floor.
Again, on the dance floor, some photographers will "bounce a flash." We do this sometimes, so there's definitely a place for it. However, for the most part, bouncing a flash makes the room look much, much brighter than it is, and the angle of light that hits the subject can enhance skin imperfections and cast unflattering shadows. Our approach focuses a flattering light on the subject while still giving context of the room and maintaining its vibe.

When hiring vendors for your luxury wedding, the vendor responsible for photographing it all isn't the place to skimp. At the end of the night, the flowers are wilted, the cake is eaten, the the booze are imbibed, and party's over. Your wedding photographs are the one way you will have to remember and relive the entire wedding day. So make sure your photographer has experience in luxury weddings (i.e. hire us!).
